About the Role: Field Engineer – Networks
The role is based in the Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Gisborne areas. The successful candidate will have experience in supporting (including build capability) networking technologies such as:
- Network Transport
- Core IP Nodes
- Various Inside Plant Technologies (incl. Legacy and Telephony/PSTN)
- Network systems
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Key Attributes
- More than 5 years’ relevant experience, with a desire to grow your skills in new technologies
- Knowledge of Exchange, Datacentre, Government and Customer environments
- Ability to accurately execute activities as documented in technical manuals
- Able to work well in high‑pressure environments maintaining an optimistic attitude
- A willingness to work long hours when necessary and cover standby/call‑out duties
- Ability to adapt to change, and changing technologies
- Experience working with NOCs, Lev 2 support, customers, vendors and 3rd parties
What You Need
- Experience in Field Support for ISP equipment including IP, Ethernet and PSTN
- Experience in Network Transport technologies including Legacy and OTN
- Fibre build and provisioning including OFDF patching and tie cables install
- Good Network build understanding and capability
- Ethernet and Switchboard cabling experience
- Able to use Fibre and Telecommunications test instruments
- NEAX knowledge preferable
- Experienced in fault analysis and maintenance support
- Understands install quality and QA compliance
- H&S aware and compliant
- Excellent customer service skills, friendly and outgoing.
- Autonomous, resourceful, and innovative but know when to elevate issues
- Enjoy a challenge and work well under pressure
- Proactive and productive.
- Self‑motivated and able to work unsupervised
