He angitūtanga: The opportunity: We’re looking for an experienced people leader to establish and lead the new Beachlands Library and Community Hub.

This permanent 38‑hour per week role is based in Beachlands and offers the unique opportunity to shape a new service from the ground up. You’ll lead the planning and delivery of integrated library, council and venue hire services, recruit and develop a new team, and help create a vibrant community hub that reflects the community needs. Flexibility is required, including evening and one weekend day, as the service grows to operate Tuesday to Sunday.

This role combines operational leadership, strategic planning and financial management, with a strong focus on building sustainable services and positive community outcomes.

The Beachlands Memorial Hall currently operates as a venue hire facility. Working alongside the Franklin Local Board and local community, you’ll help transform it into a thriving library and community hub, creating services, experiences, and supporting programmes that reflect the aspirations of the local community.

You’ll bring experience leading people through change, balancing operational priorities with long‑term planning, and using data and insight to inform decisions. You’re confident building relationships across communities and stakeholders, thrive in evolving environments, and bring a collaborative, customer‑focused approach.

As Beachlands continues to grow, you’ll be comfortable navigating ambiguity and shaping services to meet changing community needs.

You’ll also be committed to being a strong Te Tiriti o Waitangi partner and recognise the importance of te ao Māori and te reo Māori within our community places.
