Ākonga at Te Kura choose subjects based on their passions and interests, accessing learning online supported by kaiako who guide, inspire, and drive engagement. Alongside this, kaiako provide pastoral care and connect with ākonga through regular huinga ako - online or face to face - where learners connect, receive guidance, and strengthen their sense of belonging.

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this position

Were looking for a dedicated secondary kaiako with expertise in te reo Māori Levels 1-3 to join our Northern team, in Auckland.

In this role you will:

  • Support ākonga to engage deeply in learning that is aligned with their goals, passions and interests.
  • Facilitate regular huinga ako (online and face-to-face) to provide pastoral care, connection, and personalised learning
  • Provide constructive feedback and feedforward on ākonga learning
  • Collaborate with colleagues around the motu and interact with overseas ākonga online to foster meaningful learning experiences.

    You will bring:

  • New Zealand teacher registration and a current practising certificate
  • Strong knowledge of the te reo Māori curriculum and assessment practices
  • A calm, inclusive, and supportive approach to teaching and pastoral care
  • Confidence using digital tools to connect with learners
  • Enthusiasm for collaborative, values driven teaching
  • A genuine interest in learning and embracing te reo Māori, with a commitment to growing your skills.
