Alongside this, kaiako provide pastoral care and connect with ākonga through regular huinga ako - online or face to face - where learners connect, receive guidance, and strengthen their sense of belonging.

Were looking for a dedicated secondary kaiako with expertise in te reo Māori Levels 1-3 to join our Northern team, in Auckland.

In this role you will:

  • Support ākonga to engage deeply in learning that is aligned with their goals, passions and interests.
  • Facilitate regular huinga ako (online and face-to-face) to provide pastoral care, connection, and personalised learning
  • Provide constructive feedback and feedforward on ākonga learning
  • Collaborate with colleagues around the motu and interact with overseas ākonga online to foster meaningful learning experiences.

    You will bring:

  • New Zealand teacher registration and a current practising certificate
  • Strong knowledge of the te reo Māori curriculum and assessment practices
  • A calm, inclusive, and supportive approach to teaching and pastoral care
  • Confidence using digital tools to connect with learners
  • Enthusiasm for collaborative, values driven teaching
  • A genuine interest in learning and embracing te reo Māori, with a commitment to growing your skills.
