About Us

Better Choice Food Manufacturing specialises in producing authentic Chinese steamed buns, dumplings, and shaomai from scratch. Our products are handmade, steamed, frozen, and supplied to distributors and clients across New Zealand. We are seeking two skilled Pastrycook to support our expanding production operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing dough by weighing, mixing, kneading, and resting ingredients
• Preparing fillings for steamed buns, dumplings, and shaomai (pork, beef, chicken, vegetables, seafood)
• Shaping, forming, and assembling buns, dumplings, and shaomai to consistent standards
• Operating steamers, boilers, chillers, and freezing equipment
• Monitoring product quality and adjusting preparation or cooking conditions as required
• Ensuring food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness of equipment and work areas
• Packaging finished products and preparing them for freezing and distribution
• Maintaining accurate production records and following standard operating procedures

Skills and Experience Required

• Minimum two years of experiences or level 4 qulification
• Experience with Asian pastry, dim sum, or dough‑based products is an advantage
• Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene
• Ability to work efficiently in a high‑volume production environment
• Good teamwork, reliability, and attention to detail
