Overview

Introduction: Are you a strategic leader with a passion for education, clinical excellence, and innovation? Wellington Free Ambulance is looking for a Team Manager - Academic Partnerships to drive the strategy, quality, and performance of our academic programmes and partnerships. In this pivotal role, you’ll lead a team of academic professionals to deliver sector-leading outcomes through innovative curriculum design and strong collaboration with industry and academic stakeholders. You’ll play a key role in ensuring the ongoing success of the Bachelor of Health Science (Paramedic) and related postgraduate programmes. Working closely with the Head of Clinical Education, you’ll champion a best-practice learning culture, foster continuous improvement, and shape the future of tertiary clinical education in Aotearoa.

Description:

What you'll do:

  • Lead and continuously refine our academic partnership strategy, aligned with emerging sector trends and WFA’s organisational vision.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with tertiary and industry partners to enhance qualification design and delivery.
  • Guide and support a talented academic team, enabling innovation, high performance, and meaningful learning experiences.
Qualifications and Experience

What you'll bring:

  • Experience in leading teams
  • At least 10 years senior academic, clinical education or health professional experience and/or learning and development / in a medium / large sized organisations (50+ staff) across Public Private and Not for Profit sectors
  • Significant experience in academic programme design, clinical education, or learning and development
  • Demonstrated success leading the implementation of impactful education initiatives or projects
  • Experience in coaching, mentoring, and facilitating learning at both individual and group levels.
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage risk and drive strategic outcomes
  • A master’s degree in Paramedicine, Learning & Development, or a related clinical discipline.
  • A track record of academic research, with published work
