What will you be doing?
Reporting to the Head of Risk and Compliance, you will work closely with teams across the organisation, building relationships and collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure all activities align with Towers customer-centered strategy and comply with regulatory and licensing requirements.
You will be an effective and inspiring leader to the Compliance team both in NZ and Pacific, working collaboratively to deliver key compliance and regulatory projects and engagements, ensuring the organisation proactively responds to regulatory developments
Dive into the heart of your responsibilities:
- Contribute to company compliance policies and frameworks while ensuring local obligations and policies are implemented and embedded.
- Translate regulations/law into obligations, and work collaboratively with the business to ensure minimum control standards are applied (in line with relevant risk and compliance frameworks
- Be a subject matter expert and trusted advisor to the business on all regulatory and compliance aspects.
- Advising and supporting the business from a compliance and regulatory perspective on existing business practices and processes, projects and change initiatives including risk and compliance culture uplift initiatives.
- Inspire, engage and lead the Compliance team in NZ and the Pacific to consistently deliver advisory services and key projects to the wider business.
- Facilitate and support the delivery of team objectives and continue to develop the team around their skills and engagements.
- Leading the delivery of regulatory projects and engagements and ensuring the organisation proactively responds to regulatory developments.
- Maintenance and further development of Towers compliance management framework including management of obligations/attestations, a compliance strategy/plan, and compliance training requirements.
- Contribute to Management and the Board Audit and Risk Committee reporting including the provision of targeted assurance reviews.
- Support the business with timely management of compliance-related events, incidents or issues including the identification of root causes and corrective actions required
What youll need
To be successful in this role, you will also be able to demonstrate the following:
- A background in risk and compliance with at least five years experience preferred. We are also open to legal candidates with the right attitude, skillset and desire to develop a career in compliance.
- Experience working in NZ Regulatory Environments
- Strong understanding of the broader dynamics of the general insurance industry landscape and, in particular, the legal, regulatory and licence regimes that operate within New Zealand
- Proven ability to influence and engage stakeholders of all levels with the communication skills to translate strategies into meaningful organisational change.
