Automotive Electrician — Permanent, Full‑Time
Porirua (Wellington Region)
Permanent · Full time (Minimum 40 hrs/week) with overtime available
Pay: $37.00 - $38 per hour, depending on experience
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm

About the role
My client is seeking a skilled Automotive Electrician to diagnose, repair and maintain electrical and electronic systems in a wide range of motor vehicles.  The role involves advanced diagnostic work, electrical system repairs, and installation of electronic components to ensure vehicles operate safely and efficiently. If you like variety, staying busy, and being part of a down‑to‑earth workshop that values good humour and solid workmanship, you’ll fit right in.
What you’ll be doing
  • Diagnose electrical faults in motor vehicles using specialised diagnostic equipment and scan tools
  • Repair and replace faulty wiring, electrical circuits, and electronic systems
  • Servicing alternators, starter motors, batteries, lighting and ignition systems
  • Working on ECUs, sensors and onboard electronics
  • Installing and fixing alarms, immobilisers, audio systems and accessories
  • Making sure everything meets manufacturer standards and runs safely
Qualification Requirements
  • NZ Certificate in Automotive Electrical Engineering (Level 4) or equivalent, OR at least 3 years relevant work experience
  • Strong understanding of electrical and electronic vehicle systems
  • Confident using diagnostic tools and equipment
  • Good problem-solving ability with tidy, methodical work habits
  • NZ work rights (citizens/residents preferred)
