Westland Mining is expanding, and we’re on the lookout for 5 experienced Excavator Operators to join our hardworking team in the West Coast region. If you have a passion for operating heavy machinery and want to be part of a dynamic, safety-focused mining operation, this is the opportunity for you! This is a permanent full-time position, and you are required to work for at least 30 hours per week between Monday to Saturday. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate excavators to dig, move, and load materials such as ore, overburden, and aggregate.

• Ensure proper handling and placement of materials to maintain operational efficiency.

• Conduct pre-operational checks and routine maintenance on the excavator to ensure it is in safe working condition.

• Follow all mine safety protocols, procedures, and environmental regulations.

• Monitor equipment performance and report any mechanical issues or necessary repairs.

• Maintain accurate logs of daily activities, equipment inspections, and material movement.

• Adjust operations as needed to adapt to changing site conditions and production requirements.

Requirements: 

• At least 3 years of relevant work experience OR

• Relevant qualification at NZQA Level 4 or higher

• Strong knowledge of materials, tools, and techniques

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Excellent problem-solving skills

• Physical fitness and a commitment to safety
