With Tonkin + Taylor, you will work with excellent clients and our multi-disciplinary team of engineers, scientists, and planners through the whole life of a project – from concept design and consenting to tender and construction – you will get to see your designs built.
You will be responsible for delivering projects with respect to structural design, quality, programme, and budgets. This will include interfacing and coordinating outcomes from related disciplines such as geology, hydrogeology, geotechnical engineering, and dams' teams.

Our dedicated Structural Engineers are known for their responsiveness and flexibility in adapting to project and client requirements with simple robust solutions to complex and unique loading situations. Our team works closely to deliver some of New Zealand's largest and award-winning infrastructure projects, including Te Ara o Te Ata Mt Messenger Bypass, O Mahurangi (Penlink), Te Ara Tupua, Otaki to North of Levin (O2NL), and SH1 Wellington Improvements. We also deliver a broad range of unique small and medium sized projects in New Zealand and Oceania such as Auckland Zoo Rangitupu Project, Auckland Council Emergency Response work, Maraetai Wharf Rehabilitation, Te Wananga (Downtown Public Space), Linton Park Dam, and sea wall upgrades in the Marshall Islands.

Relevant BE (hons) or MEng qualification in Civil Engineering
CPEng with Engineering NZ or other relevant professional chartership, or ability to obtain
15+ years’ experience in structural design, specialising in civil structures such as bridges, tunnels, dams, retaining, and marine structures
Advanced analytical, design, and seismic engineering expertise
Proven track record of delivering practical, resilient solutions to complex engineering challenges
Strong client relationship and project management skills
Senior-level consulting experience within multi-disciplinary teams
Commitment to quality, on-time delivery, and excellence under pressure
Demonstrated ability to delegate effectively and mentor junior engineers to achieve professional growth.
