The Yard Assistant is responsible for maintaining the yard, handling stock, assisting customers, and ensuring the safe and efficient movement of materials, equipment, and vehicles.

• Key Responsibilities:
  • Load, unload, and move stock, materials, and equipment safely.
  • Organise and maintain a clean, tidy, and safe yard environment.
  • Receive, inspect, and store incoming deliveries.
  • Pick, prepare, and dispatch customer orders accurately.
  • Assist customers with product collection and loading.
  • Operate forklifts and other equipment (where licensed and authorised).
  • Carry out regular stock checks and report discrepancies.
  • Inspect equipment and report maintenance or safety issues.
  • Follow all workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Support warehouse and operations teams as required.
  • Perform general labouring and housekeeping duties.

  Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience in a yard, warehouse, logistics, or construction environment is preferred.
  • Forklift licence (preferred or essential, depending on the role).
  • Physically fit and able to lift heavy items safely.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable, punctual, and safety-focused.
  • Full driver’s licence preferred.
