About Us

We are a well-established KTV business located at 656 Dominion Rd, Mt Eden, Auckland, New Zealand. We are recruiting 2 Full-time Permanent Chefs to take charge of our in-house kitchen operations. This is a genuine long-term position governed by the New Zealand Employment Relations Act 2000. We welcome applications from all eligible candidates who hold a legal right to work in New Zealand.

Core Job Details

Employment Type: Full-time Permanent Work Location: 656 Dominion Rd, Mt Eden, Auckland

Working Hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 17:00 – 22:00 Guaranteed minimum weekly hours: 30 hours | Maximum weekly hours: 40 hours.

Overtime is voluntary and paid at the standard hourly rate. Daily breaks: 60 minutes unpaid meal break + two 10 minutes paid rest breaks.

Remuneration: Hourly rate range: $34.00 – $36.00 gross per hour. The final pay rate will be confirmed based on candidate’s work experience and professional capability. Payment is made fortnightly via internet banking to a New Zealand bank account. Annual pay review is available based on personal performance and company status.

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities 

l  Discuss with business owner to design menus and plan daily dishes. 

l  Plan food procurement, determine the quantity and type of ingredients, and conduct quality inspection for all raw materials. 

l  Monitor ingredient stock levels, manage inventory to avoid food shortage and spoilage. 

l  Prepare raw ingredients and independently cook various dishes; proficiently adjust temperature of ovens and other cooking equipment. 

l  Season dishes flexibly to meet customer requirements, arrange cooked food and maintain neat food presentation. Recruit, supervise and provide professional training to kitchen team members. 

l  Ensure all kitchen work complies with New Zealand food safety and hygiene regulations. 

l  Complete other reasonable duties assigned by the employer.

 

Mandatory Requirements

All requirements are non-negotiable for application and role performance:

1.      Work Experience: Minimum 2 years of full-time relevant chef/kitchen management experience. Candidates with 3+ years experience are preferred (3 years experience can substitute NZQF Diploma qualification).

2.      Qualification: NZQF Diploma in Cookery or related fields. 3 years relevant work experience is accepted as a qualification exemption.

3.      Core Skills: Proficient in cooking techniques, equipment operation, inventory management and staff training; familiar with New Zealand food safety standards.

4.      Work Eligibility: Must hold a valid legal right to work in New Zealand.

 

Employment Terms & Statutory Entitlements

l  Leave Entitlements: Compliant with the New Zealand Holidays Act 2003, including 4 weeks annual leave, 10 days paid sick leave, 3 days bereavement leave, 10 days domestic violence leave and public holiday benefits. Parental leave and jury duty leave are available in accordance with relevant laws.

l  Notice Period: 2 weeks written notice is required for both employer and employee to terminate employment, excluding cases of serious misconduct. 

l  Dispute Resolution: Most personal grievances must be raised within 90 days of the incident. Personal grievances related to sexual harassment must be raised within 12 months, in line with New Zealand employment legislation.
