Contract Infrastructure Architect

Collada is a boutique architecture partner, dedicated to empowering architectural leaders and uplifting architecture capability, especially in highly transformational contexts. We have been engaged by a long-term client who is undergoing a major infrastructure transformation programme.

We have been asked to support them by engaging an architect who can do the following:

  • Replacing the existing VMware platform

  • Introducing HP GreenLake

  • Retiring current on-premises infrastructure

  • Migrating all operating systems

  • Overseeing a data centre move

  • Delivering significant network changes

Location: Auckland (Hybrid)

Type: Contract

Start: ASAP

Length: Initial 6-month contract

Rate: $140ph - $150ph

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and deliver the transition from VMware to HP GreenLake, ensuring seamless migration of workloads and services.

  • Lead the replacement of all current on-prem infrastructure, defining the “to be” state and roadmap.

  • Oversee the migration of all operating systems and applications, minimising business disruption.

  • Drive the data centre move, including planning, risk management, and execution.

  • Redesign and modernise the network to support a new hybrid/cloud operating model.

  • Engage with stakeholders across technology and business, translating complex technical change into clear business value.

  • Set standards and best practices for infrastructure, automation, and operational excellence.

What Were Looking For

  • Proven experience leading large-scale infrastructure transformations (ideally including VMware retirement and HP GreenLake adoption).

  • Deep knowledge of hybrid cloud, on-prem to cloud migrations, and modern infrastructure patterns.

  • Strong understanding of OS migrations, data centre moves, and enterprise network design.

  • Ability to operate across strategic, conceptual, and hands-on levels—comfortable in both technical detail and executive discussions.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Experience working in complex, fast-paced environments with competing priorities.
