Nestled within a vibrant village setting that honours history and creates memorable experiences for every guest, this is a unique opportunity to contribute to a cherished local institution. About the Role: As a Cook within our client's bustling kitchen, you will be at the heart of the guest experience. You will play a pivotal role in upholding the establishment's commitment to quality, freshness, and homestyle cooking that has made it a destination for families, tourists, and locals alike. You will be preparing a variety of dishes that reflect the charm and character of the village, ensuring every plate that leaves the kitchen is prepared to the highest standard. Key Duties & Responsibilities: Food Preparation: • Meticulously examine all fresh produce, meats, and dry goods upon delivery to ensure they meet the kitchen's rigorous quality and freshness standards. • Expertly prepare a diverse range of raw ingredients, transforming them into the foundational components for the day's menu, with a focus on traditional, heart-warming dishes. • Skilfully prepare and cook meals in alignment with the established menu, utilising various cooking methods including grilling, roasting, and frying to achieve consistent, high-quality results. Quality & Presentation: • Taste and season dishes thoughtfully during the cooking process to achieve a balanced and flavourful profile that guests have come to expect. • Artfully portion cooked food, arrange it on plates with care, and add complementary gravies, sauces, and fresh garnishes to create an appealing and satisfying visual presentation. • Prepare and adapt meals to accommodate special dietary needs and allergies, ensuring all guests can enjoy a safe and delicious dining experience. Team Leadership & Development: • Provide guidance, support, and on-the-job training to junior kitchen staff and apprentices, fostering a positive and educational team environment. • Work collaboratively with the entire kitchen and front-of-house team to ensure a seamless and efficient service period from start to finish. The Ideal Candidate Will Possess: • Proven experience as a Cook or Chef de Partie in a fast-paced, high-quality kitchen environment. • A solid understanding of cooking methods, ingredients, and flavour profiles, with a passion for classic, well-executed food. • Impeccable personal hygiene and a comprehensive understanding of HACCP principles and food safety standards. • The ability to work effectively under pressure during peak service times while maintaining a calm and professional demeanour. • A strong team-oriented mindset with excellent communication skills and a willingness to both learn from and teach others. • A reliable, hard-working attitude and the physical stamina to meet the demands of a busy kitchen. • Formal culinary qualifications are highly regarded, but a demonstrable track record of relevant experience is equally valued.
