Tonkin + Taylor is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead our Health, Safety and Wellbeing function across New Zealand. This is a key leadership role responsible for developing, maintaining and continuously improving our HSW systems, supporting safe work practices, and promoting a positive safety culture across the business.
You will lead a dedicated HSW team, provide trusted advice to senior leaders, project teams, and work with the HSW Management team to ensure our systems remain effective, legally compliant and aligned with ISO standards. This role offers the opportunity to influence safety outcomes across a consulting environment where people, collaboration and practical risk management are at the heart of what we do.
Mō te tūranga / The opportunityThis is an exciting opportunity to shape and influence Health, Safety and Wellbeing across Tonkin + Taylor New Zealand. Reporting to the Operations Director with a dotted line to the Group H&S Director you will provide strategic leadership and expert guidance to ensure our HSW Management System empowers our people, supports business success, and maintains certification to ISO 45001 and ISO 45003.
At the heart of this role is a commitment to Human and Organisational Performance principles (HOP), you will help the business continue to move beyond traditional compliance‑focused thinking to better understand and support “work as done” rather than “work as imagined.” You will play a pivotal role in fostering a positive and proactive safety culture, encouraging learning from everyday work, and driving meaningful improvements in health, safety and wellbeing outcomes across the organisation.
