Genetic Pathologist position

Full time permanent role (1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week)

About the Role

We are looking for a Genetic Pathologist to join our Diagnostic Genetics team. This is an excellent opportunity to work with NZs largest and highly specialised hospital-based laboratory service. The Diagnostic Genetics service is undergoing significant expansion and this role will contribute to the provision and development of both germline and somatic genomic services. The preferred candidate will be highly motivated, innovative, adaptable and responsive to the changing demands and opportunities in genomics. We are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 

The overall aim of this role is to enhance health outcomes for people in the Auckland region through clinical and laboratory practice, teaching, supervision, research, service and leadership.

Opportunity to be part of the Auckland Academic Health Alliance; a partnership between Metropolitan Auckland District Health Boards and the University of Auckland

The Diagnostic Genetics department has established links with the University of Auckland and there will be an opportunity to be involved in research and teaching.

About you

You need to be a medical doctor with post-graduate specialist qualification in Pathology and eligible for vocational registration with Medical Council of New Zealand as a Pathologist to apply for this role. The ideal candidate for this role will also have trained in Genetic Pathology but enquiries are welcome from individuals from those who meet the eligibility criteria with other genetic pathology experience.
