A company is building its Papua New Guinea market across FMCG distribution, garments and fashion wholesale, fabric and textiles, and a new consumer fashion brand. Reporting to the CEO, this role owns Papua New Guinea end-to-end: winning new commercial, institutional and wholesale accounts, directing design and product direction, and managing credit, currency and margin across all four lines. Travel to Papua New Guinea required.

Our NZ company is building its Papua New Guinea market across four lines: FMCG distribution, garments and fashion supply (institutional and B2B wholesale), fabric and textiles, and a new consumer fashion brand. FMCG distribution is already live with customers in the pipeline; the other three lines are still to be built from the ground up.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this role owns Papua New Guinea end-to-end, sitting above the in-market commercial and design functions for that territory. Based in Auckland, with travel to Papua New Guinea as required.

Key Tasks:

• Convert the existing customer pipeline into active, trading accounts, and win new wholesale, institutional and B2B accounts across all four lines
• Lead tender preparation, specification, costing and delivery for institutional and corporate apparel programmes
• Identify, assess and secure local wholesale partners and distributors to build a fashion garments distribution base
• Win the first fabric customers across manufacturers, retailers, wholesalers and key segments
• Set commercial and market design direction for the Papua New Guinea range, and direct the Design Lead and external designers
• Own credit assessment, debtor management and collections; manage foreign exchange and kina exposure; hold margin discipline across freight, duty, clearance and landed cost
• Manage import, customs, compliance and in-country logistics
• Maintain market intelligence on competitors, pricing and demand, and build institutional standing through industry networks

Minimum Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field, or 5 years' relevant experience
• Proven record of winning commercial, corporate or institutional customers, including accounts built cold 
• Strong commercial and financial literacy across pricing, landed cost, margin, credit and foreign exchange
• Established networks and standing in the Papua New Guinea market
• Product and design literacy sufficient to direct designers and judge a range
