Do you enjoy supporting parents, building strong community relationships and helping whānau thrive during the early stages of parenting?
My client is a fast growing health and social services organisation who service the South Auckland area. They're a fantastic team and their mission is to provide high quality, accessible and affordable healthcare to whanau.
Our client is seeking a caring and community-minded person to help support hapū māmā and new parents across South Auckland.
This role is centred around supporting parents from pregnancy through to the first six months of their baby’s life. You’ll provide encouragement, education and practical guidance around infant feeding, breastfeeding and early parenting while helping whānau feel connected and confident.
No two days are the same — you may be visiting families in their homes, meeting with parents in clinic settings or working alongside other health professionals to ensure whānau receive the support they need.
You will become part of a close-knit and supportive team that values compassion, cultural responsiveness and relationship-based care.
Key responsibilities include:
• Providing one-on-one support to hapū māmā and whānau
• Assisting parents with breastfeeding and infant feeding information
• Delivering community outreach and home-based support services
• Encouraging positive wellbeing outcomes for māmā and pēpi
• Maintaining client records and completing administrative tasks
• Collaborating with colleagues and external providers where needed
Who we’re looking for
We welcome applicants from a variety of backgrounds including community services, healthcare, social support, parenting programmes or maternal wellbeing services. The main thing is that you're passionate about this service and want to help support hapū māmā and new parents.
You will ideally bring:
• Experience engaging with families and diverse communities
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Good organisational and self-management abilities
• Confidence using technology and digital systems
• The ability to work autonomously while remaining team-focused
• A current full New Zealand driver licence
Bonus skills and experience:
• Knowledge of breastfeeding support or infant nutrition
• Lactation Consultant qualifications or related experience
