Arowhenua Native Nursery & Restoration is a proudly Māori-owned and operated business delivering native plant restoration services across the Arowhenua rohe. They specialise in growing eco-sourced seedlings and supporting restoration projects from planning through to long-term care.

They are now seeking an experienced Native Plant Nursery & Quality Control Kaimahi to join their team in Temuka.

 

About the Role

This is a practical, full-time position where you will play a key role in producing high-quality native plants for conservation, landscaping and restoration projects.

Working as part of a collaborative nursery team, you will be involved in day-to-day plant production while also carrying out quality control checks to ensure plants meet required standards.

This role is physically active and involves working outdoors in varying conditions.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with plant propagation, potting, watering, pruning and general plant care
  • Monitoring plant health and early identification of any issues
  • Carrying out quality control checks to ensure consistency and high standards
  • Maintaining plant records and supporting traceability and quality assurance processes
  • Supporting irrigation, growing conditions and nursery systems
  • Assisting with stock organisation, order preparation and dispatch
  • Operating nursery equipment safely
  • Contributing to a safe, tidy, and efficient working environment

 

About You

Our client is looking for someone who:

  • Has nursery, horticulture or landscaping experience
  • Has knowledge of plant care, irrigation, and propagation
  • Has a genuine interest in native plants and environmental restoration
  • Brings strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality
  • Enjoys practical, hands-on outdoor work
  • Works well in a team and follows instructions reliably
  • Has a positive attitude and willingness to learn

 

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Relevant qualification (or willingness to work towards one)
  • Full driver’s licence
  • Chemical handling experience
  • Machine operating competency
