Senior Factor/Manufacturing Technician

Are you an experienced maintenance or engineering technician with a passion for precision setting and maintenance of machinery.

Godfrey Hirst NZ is seeking a Senior Carding Technician to join our manufacturing team in Gracefield, Lower Hutt. We turn New Zealand wool into carpet yarn that goes on to be used throughout the world.

This hands-on role is ideal for you if you have experience as a technician or engineer - working with factory machinery! This is a specialist role and on the job training can be given to the right candidate.

The job:

·      Leading preventative and maintenance of carding machines.

·      Responding to breakdowns and collaborating with maintenance and operations teams.

·      Supporting product development and contributing to process improvements.

·      Monitoring yarn quality and machine performance using Uster results.

·      Training and mentoring carding team members.

·      Participating in site projects

·      Upholding quality, environmental, and health & safety standards.

What Were Looking For

·      4-5 years experience in manufacturing - maintaining and ensuring reliability of plant & equipment

·      Tertiary qualifications or industry training in textiles, maintenance, or engineering.

·      Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

·      Good written and verbal communication

·      Familiarity with quality systems and Microsoft Office
