Tūaropaki Trust (www.tuaropaki.com) is an Ahu Whenua Trust under the auspices of Te Ture Whenua Māori. There are more than 2,700 Owners, a mix of individuals, Whānau Trusts and Kaitiaki Trusts, all descended from the original Owners. The Trust is a kaitiaki for ancestral taonga and manages complex business interests in the food and energy sectors, with assets valued at approximately $1 billion.

Te tūranga | Your Role

Reporting to the Strategy and Investment Manager, the Strategy and Investment Advisor is a newly established role created through recent organisational changes. This position is responsible for supporting and leading components of corporate finance, investment, strategy and reporting obligations through well-founded analysis and insights. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Construct, maintain and oversee robust financial models and forecasts to support operations, compliance, and investment opportunities.
  • Deliver commercial insights through investment analysis, sector reviews, and asset performance evaluations.
  • Contribute to and lead sections of industry sector research to inform strategy and decision-making.
  • Oversee preparation of periodic reports on the Trusts portfolio and asset performance.
  • Support and lead elements of corporate finance and commercial projects, including investment and divestment activities.
  • Assist in developing networks to access quality opportunities and capital.
  • Support initiatives that manage risk and leverage opportunities across Trust-managed businesses.
  • Provide expertise directly to the Trust or its investments as required.
  • Mentor team members in technical expertise and best practice.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in finance, mathematics, or business.
  • 5+ years experience in investment management, banking, corporate finance, or consultancy.
  • Strong experience executing investment and divestment transactions.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Clear communication and interpersonal strengths.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • A collaborative mindset and strong relationship-building skills.

This position will be based in Taupo or Wellington, with some business travel required
