We are looking for a part-time (20 hour per week) youth worker to join our fantastic team! This new role may well work alongside other part-time youth work roles such as 24-7 youth work, youth pastoring or ministry training, depending on the individual. In this role you will be a part of running our Kids Camps, Teen Adventure Camps, Teen Adventure Days and

Big Night Out programmes as well as assisting in aspects of our other programmes. This role may suit you if you have significant experience working with young people or if you have less experience but are extremely passionate about youth work and are a quick learner.

It is expected that you will initially take on an assistant role alongside our senior youth work staff on programmes, but quickly learn the CDN culture and systems and be able to step up to coordinating programmes with confidence and competence. An additional 10 hour per week role as a school-based youth worker may be available alongside this role. Programme Specifics: Kids Camp - each school holidays we run a camp for 75 intermediate age young people.

Each camp has 2 or 3 CDN staff and about 30 volunteers. You will join the other camp staff and fill various roles at times on these camps under the direction of the Kids Camp director. Teen Adventure Camps & Events - We run a number of weekend camps and day events throughout the year and you will be involved in assisting in many of these and with some training may be running some of these events.

Big Night Out events - We run youth events in collaboration with various youth groups throughout Christchurch. You will be involved in the coordination and running of some of these events.

Role Details: Parts of your role will include networking with various agencies including churches, social services and local government as well as administrative tasks ranging from advertising programmes through website and social media, to pre-camp phone calls to programme registrants, to setting up programme materials. No specific qualification is necessary for this role, but it is vital that you are a self-starter who is highly self-motivated, able to problem solve and self-organised. You need to be good at working with young people families and colleagues from a range of diverse backgrounds.

About us: CDN Trust is a Christian-based charitable organisation in Christchurch. In addition to being a great youth worker, we are looking for someone who aligns with our values as an organisation and is a great role model who actively demonstrates our Christian faith and values both in their work and in everyday life.  This role is partially based at our Riccarton office which is shared with Riccarton Community Church (RCC) and aspects of this role will involve work from our Hornby and Parklands hubs, as well as close work alongside people and programmes from RCC and various other churches and organisations.

CDN works with young people 10-18 years old from a wide variety of backgrounds and circumstances across the wider Christchurch region.  Our vision is for every young person in Canterbury to know their purpose, be connected in their community, and reaching their potential. We are about giving young people great experiences alongside great role models and offering good connections to local youth groups, churches and organisations.

Through these events and connections we help young people achieve their potential.   If this sounds like you we want to hear from you! Application: Remuneration will be a salary based on relevant experience.

Generally, our salary scale starts from the living wage and scales up based on role and experience. We also cover expenses such as cell phone and mileage. The start date for this role is negotiable.

As this role involves a number of camps and events, the actual hours you will work fluctuate throughout the year with up to 60-70 hours on the weeks where you are staying at camp. This is balanced out by shorter and relatively flexible hours many other weeks. We operate a time-bank system to assist in managing this.
