Job Description: Research Assistant - Pacific Health Research Position Purpose: The purpose of this position is to assist the Principal Investigator in the
day-to-day organisation of field work for the Health Research Council funded project ‘Improving Paediatric Palliative Care among Pacific Children. The position will be under the supervision of the designated academic lead.

About this area
The Centre for Public Health Research (CPHR) is a University research Centre based in the College of Health. The main function of the Centre is to conduct hauora and health research that is of scientific importance and has the potential to improve public health, reduce health inequities, and guide policy development.
As well as conducting research, the Centre has a commitment to the training of new hauora and health researchers including MSc and PhD students. It also maintains liaison with policy makers in order to ensure that the findings of research inform policy.

Accountabilities
Research Support • Assist with recruitment of children and their parents/caregivers for a research project to: identify the needs for Paediatric Palliative Care (PPC) among Pacific children; identify best practice and models of care;
and contribute to the development of a culturally competent PPC service for Pacific children in NZ.
- Undertake interviews of study participants face-to-face, over the
- Organise, and assist in analysing and coding data collected using NVIVO
- Assist in conducting literature reviews and annotated bibliographies
- Assist in developing questionnaires and observations schedules.
- Support research activity on other externally funded research, when
required.
- Collect research data and support colleagues in quantitative and

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications: • Tertiary qualification would be desirable.
- A current full New Zealand drivers license - Essential
Experience: • Some understanding of quantitative and qualitative research methods and analysis would be an advantage.
