Salary: $104,027 - $121,657 + Superannuation

The Role | Te tunga

As a Statistical Production Lead, you will coordinate and manage statistical releases, ensuring deadlines are met and outputs are delivered to a high standard. You will play a pivotal role in supporting teams, guiding analysts, and fostering collaboration across multiple statistical releases and with the other Statistical Production Leads. Your expertise will contribute to improving our statistical production processes and ensuring consistency across releases.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and overseeing the production of one or more statistical releases
  • Working closely with Unit Managers and Analysts to assign tasks and monitor progress
  • Coordinating release status reporting and keeping key stakeholders informed
  • Identifying dependencies between statistical projects and ensuring smooth integration
  • Standardising methodologies and processes across different releases
  • Coaching and mentoring colleagues to build statistical capability
  • Driving continuous improvement in statistical production systems and processes

  • A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience, an understanding of economic statistics is an advantage
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to coordinate complex workstreams
  • An understanding of data processing and quality control processes, with a willingness to learn about statistical data releases produced by Stats NZ
  • An ability to solve problems under pressure
  • Great team-working skills with the ability to build strong relationships
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain complex concepts in plain English
  • An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a willingness to learn and grow in Te Ao M ori
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in or outside of work
