The Policy Group at the Department of Internal Affairs is recruiting Senior Policy Analysts. We currently have significant projects in the following areas:
- Digital and identity - developing regulations for the Digital Identity Services Trust Framework and ensuring identity products are fit for purpose
- Community wellbeing - developing policies for a strong and vibrant community and voluntary sector
- Gambling and racing - updating gambling legislation for todays digital world and ensuring it is futureproofed, as well as regulating for online gambling, and considering how we can effectively minimise harm across the gambling system
- Online safety and classification - working to maintain the Classification Act which seeks to reduce the risk of harm from content online and across traditional media content.
- Racing and betting - a programme to ensure the sustainability of the Racing industry as well as maintaining the system for betting on racing and sports.
As a Senior Policy Analyst at the Department of Internal Affairs you will work as part of a team to prepare evidence-based advice for ministers and senior leaders in the public service. You will already have worked as a policy analyst or senior policy analyst in central government.
- You will need a relevant degree that demonstrates your critical thinking training, policy analysis experience or transferrable skills, and an excellent communication style.
- You will have an interest in legislative processes. Youll have a curious mindset that is motivated by solving problems and youre committed to continuous learning.
- Community and stakeholder engagement is a big part of what we do. You will need to be comfortable working with communities, industry and international stakeholders.
