Starting salary: $95,972 - $112,181 + superannuation

The roles | Te tunga

There are two roles available. Both are permanent, with one based at our office in either Wellington or Christchurch, and the other at a flexible location within the South Island. Both roles report to the Manager Community Engagement and Insights.

The goal of your engagement will be to ensure that key community stakeholders have trust and confidence in Stats NZ, and to understand if we are delivering products and services that deliver value for our communities.

You will do this by engaging proactively with communities and networks, establishing regular touchpoints and ongoing mechanisms. Youll build strong relationships with your local community and with priority populations across the country. Youll work with communities to make sure they have access to products and services that help them meet their data goals.

Youll have input to developing engagement approaches to ensure they are meaningful and deliberate. The key focus for the next 6-12 months is building enduring relationships, embedding regular flows of insights, and supporting Stats NZ at external events.

Your team includes 5 other Senior Leads - Engagement who you will collaborate closely with, along with the wider Community Engagement and Insights team.

Our ideal candidates will:

  • Be confident developing strong relationships with people from diverse backgrounds, and using insights from these relationships to inform decision makers.
  • Be comfortable learning about and explaining data-related concepts to community groups
  • Demonstrate m tauranga M ori, fluency in te reo, understanding of tikanga and applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi in a work setting, or demonstrate a willingness to upskill and increase your cultural capability
  • Have experience in relationship management, preferably in a community engagement, empowerment, development context or similar means of collecting feedback from community groups on a wide range of topics
  • Have familiarity with organising events-based relationship building opportunities
