Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role

The Centre for Engineering and Trades Wintec are looking for an Electrical Technician to support the operations behind facilitating the learning of students.

The role is based at our Rotokauri Campus Hamilton but does involve travel to our other campuses. Your role is to support kaimahi, and ensure our facility is ready for course delivery, repairs and maintenance.

  • Experience within a teaching space and facilitating learning, or a basic understanding of teaching principles.
  • Experience in repairs and maintenance and servicing workshops and equipment.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety relevant to workshop practice.
  • Demonstrated experience in handling a variety of equipment, tools, and materials, including composite materials.
  • Able to interact and be responsive to the needs of diverse groups, e.g. youth, Māori and Pasifika, and international students, academic staff members and industry participants.
  • Typical knowledge, skills and attributes Ability to design and implement relevant systems that would underpin safe and efficient workshop operations.
  • An ability to undertake complex scheduled sessions in a planned and systematic manner within a trade-specialised workshop environment.
  • Able to interact and be responsive to the needs of diverse groups, e.g. youth, Māori and Pasifika, and international students, academic staff members and industry participants.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of health and safety requirements and responsibilities relevant to the position, with excellent practical skills and demonstrable experience of safe ways of working.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and relationship skills to work with colleagues to resolve issues and meet agreed outcomes, exercising judgment in problem-solving. Proactive and responsive customer service attitude with a focus on internal and external customer needs.
  • Understanding of budgeting, purchasing and relevant financial skills. Competent user of MS Office.

  • Hold a current trade certification in Electrical.
  • Forklift, drivers license, and Health and Safety qualifications/tickets/permits.
  • Recent experience working within the Electrical industry.
