Position: Joiner

As a Joiner, you will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and installing timber and other materials to produce high-quality joinery services and products. Your role is crucial in ensuring precision and craftsmanship in all aspects of joinery while adhering to safety standards and project deadlines. You will work collaboratively with the construction team to meet client expectations and maintain the companys reputation for excellence.

Job duties:

General Duties

• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication skills

• Prioritise workload for best results

• Undertake all duties and responsibilities outlined in this Position Description and all other duties as required by the business

• Serve the business in good faith, promoting and protecting the companys best interests

Onsite preparation

• Set up the job sites and prepare the layouts

• Load and unload building and construction materials

• Ensure tools and equipment are moved to construction sites

Joinery Fabrication & Assembly

• Read and interpret drawings, plans, specifications and installation procedures

• Construct, assemble, and fit wooden components accurately to build structures and fittings

• Use power tools and hand tools safely and effectively

• Ensure precision in measurements and cuts to meet project specifications

Material and Tool Management

• Select and prepare appropriate timber and other materials

• Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition

• Organize and store materials properly to minimize waste

Installation & Site Work

• Cut and install joinery products on-site, ensuring quality and accuracy

• Collaborate with the construction team to meet project requirements

• Conduct on-site adjustments, repairs and modifications as needed

Client and Team Relations

• Foster positive working relationships with clients and team members

• Represent the company professionally on-site and communicate effectively with all parties

Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain accurate records of materials used and tasks completed

• Assist with project documentation as required by the supervisor

Health and Safety

• Take reasonable care for your own health and safety

• Ensure safe working practices and report risks, near misses, incidents, and accidents

Pay rate: Minimum $27.00/ hour Maximum $32.00/ hour

Guaranteed hours of work per week: Minimum 30 hours, permanent full-time

Requirements for the job:

• At least 1 year of relevant work experience is required

• Must have experience with power tools and hand tools

• Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship

• Adequate problem-solving skills

• Good organizational and time management skills

• Team player with a positive attitude

• Adaptable and proactive in a dynamic work environment

• Ability to work independently

• To be reliable and friendly

• Be physically fit

• Full time availability, may work at weekends

• No criminal record

• Candidates need to be NZ citizens/residents
