The Resource Consent team is one half of City Planning, focusing on the regulatory management of the Resource Management Act and the District Plan. Our team processes a variety of applications, conducts pre-application meetings, handles planning enquiries, and ensures compliance with resource consents and District Plan regulations. We also provide essential support for subdivision certification, HAIL searches, development contribution assessments, and Civil Defence Intelligence.

The opportunity

We have a permanent role for a planner to work in our resource consent team processing applications for resource consent. As a Resource Consent Planner, you will be involved in multiple tasks, with a primary focus on processing applications for resource consent for land use and subdivision. You will also provide planning advice to the public and staff, assess building consent applications, participate in service improvement projects, and contribute to ongoing changes to the District Plan.

You would work in a team that undertakes a wide range of work, including monitoring and compliance, HAIL matters, development contributions, and subdivision certification. There is regular interaction with the 3 Waters team, Transport department, and the team policy team responsible for the District Plan and supplying advice on heritage, urban design, and biodiversity.

About you

We are looking for a collaborative and self-motivated individual who cares about their work. You need to have good experience and an understanding of resource consent processes, sound judgment, and good decision making. Also, a good communicator, organised and efficient, and able to work collaboratively within a team and with professionals to achieve goals. Your experience and skills will guide which of the two role options you are suited to.

Salary range: $86,428 - $101,680
