Whats the mahi? At Aurecon, we believe that safety is more than a compliance box to tick — its how we protect our people, partners, and communities every day. Were looking for an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to embed themselves in critical infrastructure and transport projects, guiding our teams to deliver safely and confidently. Your day-to-day will include:
  • Leading and participating in site audits, toolbox talks, and risk mitigation efforts
  • Driving incident investigations and managing workers compensation claims
  • Providing practical, regulatory HSE advice across construction, water, and transport projects
  • Supporting the development and implementation of HSE initiatives that align with Aurecons strategic goals
  • Reviewing and providing feedback on contractor H&S plans — owning the risk as the employer
  • Ensuring governance and compliance through audits, monitoring, and documentation reviews
  • Acting as the first point of contact for H&S queries, especially in high-risk or early-phase environments
  • Building strong relationships and facilitating clear communication between site teams and internal stakeholders
What youll bring:
  • A relevant qualification including NZ Diploma Health & Safety Management, NEBOSH and and experience with ISO 45001
  • 5+ years experience in a similar HSE role
  • Proven experience with HSE risk management in civil and transport infrastructure projects
  • Confidence to lead from the front and challenge when needed to uphold safety standards
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to coach and influence others
  • Experience reviewing contractors risk management plans and the ability to provide feedback
  • A collaborative mindset with flexibility and a focus on continuous improvement
