Port Otago Groups business comprises a regional container terminal, bulk port activities, cruise and property investment and development. We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic People & Payroll Administrator to join our People team on a permanent full-time basis in our newly built, vibrant, and collaborative Head Office in beautiful Port Chalmers.

About the role

This role is key in ensuring the smooth delivery of our people and payroll processes. You will quickly become an expert and trusted administrator providing generalist people administration, recruitment and onboarding support to our Managers and the People Team. Youll also be a key support to our payroll processes too, learning the ropes so that you can support the day-to-day execution of payroll processes as needed, and provide back-up support when our Payroll Lead is on leave.

To be successful in this position you will:

  • Have some HR administration experience and at least two years payroll processing experience
  • Be a confident user of the MS office suite; with some experience with people systems
  • Have a strong customer focus, and a great relationship builder
  • Have high levels of accuracy and attention to detail, while remaining efficient
  • Be a self-starter who brings a logical, proactive and structured approach to their work
  • Be a pragmatic and solution orientated mindset
  • Have plenty of initiative and be comfortable to challenge the way we do things
