The role / Te mahi

The Senior Strategy and Policy Advisor (External Engagement Division) is a member of the Office of Deputy Vice-Chancellor, External Engagement (DVC (EE)) with specific responsibilities for providing quality analysis of information and up-to-date, expert policy and strategy advice to support the delivery of the Universitys strategic objectives.

The External Engagement Division/Te Ringa Toro incorporates Marketing, Communications, Schools Liaison, International, Development and Alumni Relations, and Pacific Community Engagement. The leadership team is collegial and works closely together.

The role involves engaging across all parts of the University and with external stakeholders to manage, co-ordinate or advise on particular projects, programmes or committees at the request of the DVC (EE). The role also supports key operational functions of the Office.

You will also have:
  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant field.
  • Proven experience in strategic and operational planning.
  • High level of research and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and work with competing demands.
  • Dedication to working in a culturally safe and respectful manner, including understanding and appreciation of Te Ao Māori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles, and Pasifika values.

You will be an effective communicator and facilitator, with proven success in building effective professional relationships. An understanding of the New Zealand higher education and international environment would be advantageous.

This is permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week) position, based in Dunedin.
