About the opportunity

Were looking for a Tax Consultant to join T&Gs Group tax team. Reporting to our Senior Tax Manager and with mentoring from our Tax Manager, this role offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure to tax in a large multi-national, publicly-listed organisation in the vibrant horticulture industry.

Key responsibilities include:

• Provide tax consultancy to the T&G Group
• Be involved with the broader NZ tax community engaging with key stakeholders: our advisers, Inland Revenue, and other large NZ corporate taxpayers
• Assist with the completion and review of group income tax returns
• Support the preparation of half-year and full year tax reporting disclosures.
• Ad-hoc tax calculations and tax advice for business forecasts, contracts, mergers, acquisitions, and liquidations
• Advise on law and policy changes for FBT, GST, and WHT and assist with those returns
• Assist with further implementation of the tax governance framework and ongoing compliance
• Assist with transfer pricing activity in all jurisdictions

You will also contribute to Tax and Business Transformation projects and have the opportunity to gain broader career development within the Group accounting / Commercial accounting teams . We will support your CA qualification and/or professional legal studies course, while providing ongoing professional development. About you:

• Degree qualified in Accounting and/or Law
• Looking to begin a career in tax, or up to 2 years corporate tax experience in a professional services or in-house tax team
• Attention to detail, analytical mind, and sharp problem-solving skills
• Exposure to international taxation would be an advantage, but if your experience is NZ-centric we will develop your knowledge of international requirements.
