Head of Group Sales

Stuff is seeking a highly accomplished Head of Group Sales to lead our Christchurch-based sales teams across both Agency and Direct channels. This is a critical senior appointment, responsible for driving substantial market share growth in line with our strong digital and masthead audience, while maintaining our reputation as a trusted commercial partner across the region.

You will bring a wealth of experience and credibility across the media landscape, in both agency and direct environments. Your expertise will be matched by your commercial acumen, proven leadership capability, and established networks among Christchurchs media, business, cultural, and sporting communities.

What youll be doing
  • Develop and execute go-to-market plans tailored for Christchurch that align with Stuffs national vision. Drive integrated, omnichannel solutions that deliver measurable results.

  • Achieve and exceed revenue targets across Agency and Direct. Identify growth opportunities within key verticals and deliver compelling commercial outcomes.

  • Act as Stuffs senior commercial figurehead in Christchurch. Forge deep relationships with key agency stakeholders, senior decision-makers, and top-tier direct clients.

  • Coach and develop a high-performing sales team. Set clear expectations, ensure strong staff engagement, and lead by example in building a collaborative, results-focused culture.

  • Partner with internal teams across strategy, creative, data and product to deliver sophisticated and effective client solutions.

  • Ensure all client engagement and intelligence is captured and leveraged to drive insight-led growth strategies.

  • Elevate Stuffs presence by building connections across the community and representing our brand at local events and forums.

About you
  • A minimum of 10 years senior commercial media sales experience , including deep expertise across both agency and direct environments .

  • A recognised leader within agency and/or client circles, with influential relationships across Christchurchs business, cultural and media sectors.

  • Proven track record in developing and executing revenue strategies that have delivered significant commercial outcomes.

  • Deep understanding of agency trading models , media investment strategy, and omnichannel planning.

  • Strong leadership credentials - experienced in building high-performance teams and leading through influence.

  • Highly skilled in negotiation , business development , and relationship management at senior levels.

  • Data-literate, with the ability to translate insight into action.

  • Respected for your integrity, professionalism, and ability to build trusted partnerships.
