Were on the lookout for a dynamic and visionary Head of People Operations to lead our Tier 0/1 people and payroll support, build high-performing teams, and drive meaningful change across the bank.

Mo te tūranga | About the role:

As the Head of People Operations, youll be at the heart of our people experience — driving operational excellence, leading strategic initiatives, and empowering your team to deliver world-class service.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Lead the delivery of seamless, scalable Tier 0/1 people and payroll support to the business.
• Champion strong collaboration across the wider People function to support ASBs people value proposition.
• Foster a culture of empowerment, customer obsession, continuous improvement, and accountability.
• Plan and execute business initiatives with strong governance, stakeholder focus, and operational rigour.
• Use data-driven insights and productivity tools to improve customer and team outcomes.
• Build and embed a proactive risk and compliance culture within People Operations.
• Own the strategy and execution for continuous automation and digital enablement.
• Ensure data integrity across all People systems and support accurate and timely updates to key employee information.
• Lead and coach a high-performing team, focused on developing both individual and collective capabilities.

Youre a proven leader in HR operations with a passion for people, process, and performance. Youll bring:

• 5-10 years of senior leadership experience in HR shared services or people operations.
• Deep understanding of HR systems, data, and operations — with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• A track record of leading high-performing teams, delivering impactful change, and driving business results.
• Expertise in lean, agile, and human-centred design approaches (Green Belt preferred).
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills — you influence with clarity and confidence.
• Solid knowledge of employment law, HR compliance, and best practice people processes.
