Whether through your background in Interior Design, or previous experience in a similar role, you bring valuable expertise that contributes to creating an engaging and inspiring IKEA shopping experience. About this work area As an Interior Design Specialist your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: -
- Using your passion for home furnishing to contribute to positioning IKEA Sylvia Park as the first choice for home furnishing in the local market.
- Effect positive change on life at home of the many New Zealanders.
- Implementing your home furnishing knowledge to create inspiring solutions for our visitors and customers within our room settings, homes, vignettes, and sales support areas that reflect the IKEA identity.
- Stimulating emotional connection to home furnishing through constantly showing new and inspiring solutions that motivate people to visit the IKEA store frequently.
- Coordinating and implementing new home furnishing solutions, throughout the store
- Using the IKEA product range to show the distinct and different styles that appeal to many individual tastes and needs within the local market. Including visiting our customers where they live.
- Reflecting the IKEA Brand identity by creating visual impact in all commercial, sales support, and co-worker areas.
To be considered for this role experience in the following is essential: -
- A true passion for home furnishing and peoples lives at home with a strong ability to inspire and transform functional home furnishing spaces.
- A strong communicator, capable of guiding peers and influencing stakeholders to achieve goals through interior design.
- Passionate to follow the process from idea to implementation, as a practical and hands on individual, with proven ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment.
- An ability to flourish in a dynamic and creatively charged environment, working under tight deadlines in a fast-paced retail environment.
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset and passionate about the IKEA brand.
- Experienced with spatial planning programs such as Revit (preferred) or AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe CC Suite.
- An Interior Design or Architecture qualification, or Design related education.
- A minimum of 2 years experience in Interior Design or another Design related role.
- An understanding of how to handle multiple tasks with a hands-on mindset often utilising tools like ladders, sewing machines, power tools, including painting.
What you need to know -
- This role is permanent full time.
- The work location for this role once the store is open will be IKEA Sylvia Park. Until then, you will likely be based from a temporary office in Auckland. Occasionally, you might be required to work from the external warehouse in Māngere.
- As our store operates 7 days per week, you must have the availability to work a rotating roster with a mix of day and evening shifts. You also have the availability to work alternating weekend shifts.
- The internal title for this role is Unit Interior Design Specialist I.
- If your application is progressed, you may be invited to complete a Video Interview
- As part of the recruitment process this role requires a pre-employment check for final candidates which includes an MOJ police check.
- Car parking will not be provided and therefore IKEA encourages all Co-workers to utilise public transport wherever possible.
