About our team/Mō te tīma

Whakaratoka me kā Whakariteka ā-Wahaka | Divisional Services and Administration is a team of highly skilled professionals responsible for delivering outstanding student and staff experiences through high quality, confidential secretarial and administrative support services. You will be part of a supportive administration division providing administrative services to the Sciences Divisional Office.

The role/Te mahi

As our Kaiwhakahaere Tari, you will be the first point of contact for the Sciences Divisional Office, providing a warm, professional welcome to staff, students, and visitors. You will support daily operations by:
  • Delivering comprehensive administrative support across the Division.
  • Assisting Māori and Pacific student support teams administratively, contributing to a well-supported, inclusive environment.
  • Committing to upholding the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and demonstrating an understanding and appreciation of Te Ao Māori.
  • Collaborating with the Senior Administrator and Executive Assistant on projects, tasks and general administration.
  • Offering critical administrative assistance during staff shortages where needed.
  • Managing office supplies, maintaining systems, and ensuring a well-organised workspace.
  • Handling inquiries, meeting arrangements, minute-taking, planning and logistics for travel, transactional finance activities, and other office duties as required.

Your skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako

We are looking for a proactive, customer focused professional, with a friendly manner, excellent relationship building and time management skills. You will play a pivotal role in supporting the Universitys Māori Strategic Framework and Pae Tata plans by fostering a positive environment for both tauira and kaimahi Māori to flourish.

Key skills required include:

  • Previous experience in an administration role, or a willingness to learn.
  • Proficiency in Te Reo Māori me ona Tikanga, or a willingness to increase proficiency.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an eye for detail.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, with ability to adapt and navigate new systems.
  • Excellent organisational skills and an attention to detail.
  • An ongoing commitment to positive outcomes for our students, staff, and visitors.

Further details/Pūroko This is a permanent full-time position (37.5 hours per week), located in Dunedin.

The appointment range for this role is $65,281 - 69,648. Top of Range $74,947.
