Market Risk Analyst

Mō te tūranga | About the Role We are currently looking for a Market Risk Analyst on a permanent basis. In this role, you will play a crucial role in overseeing market and counterparty credit risk. Key responsibilities include:

• Independent oversight of Financial Markets business, ensuring adherence to frameworks, policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Support, update and maintenance of risk management frameworks, policies, and controls across market and counterparty credit risks.
• Deliver risk reporting and analysis to senior leadership across Westpac New Zealand and Westpac Banking Group.
• Monitor daily market risks, assess risk valuation in financial instruments, and analyse historical/statistical data to support business proposals.
• Support stress testing and risk simulations for VaR and structural risk for key business decisions.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support reviews and policy enhancements.

• A degree in Finance, Accounting, Statistics/Mathematics, or Engineering.
• 2-3 years of experience in a Risk Analyst role ideally in banking or financial institutions, with a strong understanding of market, and credit risk management.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; knowledge of macro and SQL programming is advantageous.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data.
• A proactive mindset, eagerness to collaborate, and commitment to driving process improvements.
