About the role:

This role is pivotal to achieve Holcims Strategic intent to deliver and operate New Zealands best supply chain distribution network for bulk and packaged cementitious products by:

  • Leading the site operations team to ensure the safe, sustainable and efficient supply and distribution of cementitious products, in both bulk and packaged format, to Holcim New Zealands customers.

  • Assisting the General Manager Cement in developing Holcims terminal and deport footprint to achieve a low cost and efficient supply chain. Leveraging relationships with our partner suppliers to continuously improve our operations. Assist with and contribute to our key account management activities with our customers.

  • As a member of the National Operations Team, effectively contributing to the development and implementation of strategy and initiatives that enhance performance across all aspects of the business, lowering costs, improving efficiency and generating great outcomes for our customers.

  • Drive the maintenance of a zero-harm culture across the business, ensuring that safety, health, and environmental (SHE) standards are consistently met.

Key focus & responsibilities:

  • Manage and allocate resources (people and machinery) to safely maximise productivity, minimise cost and deliver to customers expectations.

  • Ensure cooperation between the North Island Operations and other Holcim departments and regions (e.g. Sales, Shipping, Logistics, Depots) to ensure overall business targets are met.

  • Develop and oversee the implementation of business and operations plans.

  • Uphold a condition-based preventative maintenance program to ensure cost effective reliability and protection of assets.

  • Manage and develop Standard Operating Procedures for ship unloading, managing contracted stevedoring services to achieve timely unloading of each import shipment, ensure discharge targets are met.

  • Assist the sales team to meet the needs of the customers and advise them of customer issues and activity

  • Identify opportunities in processes to deliver efficiency gains, deliver cost outs for production or supply chain.

  • Deliver the requirements of the Quality Management System (QMS)

  • Prepare well researched CAPEX proposals for internal approval.

  • Managing and controlling expenditure at lowest sustainable cost whilst maximising commercial and margin opportunity, within Holcim policies and standards.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Manufacturing or Business or equivalent experience Skills and work experience

  • Logistics and Supply Chain experience preferred

  • Line management experience

  • 10+ years operational experience

  • 3+ years manufacturing knowledge

  • Ability to analyse and manage complex issues

  • Good decision making and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Staff Management and leadership skills

  • Intermediate computer skills - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SAP

  • Prepared to travel as and when required to meet the needs of the business
