We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced tax professional to join our Finance team as a Senior Tax Advisor. In this role, the work is varied and engaging—whether were interpreting new tax policies, supporting business initiatives, or navigating complex tax issues. This is an Auckland based role and is a hybrid role with three days in the office per week. Mō te Tūranga | About the Role We sat down with our Head of Taxation, and they let us know the following about the role. What are some of the day to day tasks the person in this role will complete?
  • Owning and operating monthly and quarterly tax effect accounting processes.
  • Preparing monthly investment income reporting submissions to Inland Revenue.
  • Preparing responses to Inland Revenue information requests and queries.
  • Providing tax advice to internal colleagues.
What is the team culture and environment like? Our team is a collaborative and supportive group that plays a key role across the business. We work closely with a wide range of teams, providing insights and guidance on tax matters while always looking for ways to improve our processes and serve customers better. What projects / work will the candidate be working on now and into the next year? The focus for this role will be supporting the implementation of a new core banking system into investment income reporting processes; and enhanced automation of quarterly and annual tax reporting processes. What attributes will this person display in order to be successful in this role?
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate complex technical content to a non-technical audience;
  • A willingness and drive to continuously improve tax compliance and reporting processes;
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines with different stakeholders;
  • An interest in using data to improve and automate processes;
What specific skills and experience would be beneficial?
  • New Zealand corporate experience, including GST;
  • Experience with tax effect accounting under NZ IFRS;
  • Financial services tax experience;
  • Experience with PowerBI is desirable;
