This position is the lead member of the permanent on-site Estate and Infrastructure team who oversees the delivery of facilities management services and oversight of third party FM delivery contracts.

The Site Manager is responsible for liaising between the base personnel and service provider(s) to ensure that the delivery of Facilities Maintenance and Management is in accordance with the contract requirements and meets the needs of the customer.

A typical day might include:

  • Liaising between the camp/base command and service providers to ensure a productive contractual/working relationship is maintained.
  • Overseeing the execution of facilities management provider contracts, as well as monitoring contract performance and records, including the provision of contract-related issues resolution and opportunities for collaborative improvement.
  • Providing proactive leadership, mentoring and guidance to the Facilities Site Supervisor and the service provider.
  • Ensuring the adoption of appropriate practices and processes in order to minimise the total cost of ownership of NZDFs asset base.

Due to the nature of this role, there will be no work from home arrangements available, however once established in the role there will be some flexibility afforded surrounding working hours.

This is a critical role that requires commercial acumen and technical understanding of property and infrastructure. As the ideal candidate, this knowledge will comes from your comprehensive experience in leading infrastructure, facilities and asset management teams or a large complex portfolio. Contract management will play a considerable part in your time in this role, so a breadth of experience and knowledge in this will be invaluable!

Additionally, you will also possess:

  • Commercial negotiation and contract management skills and expertise.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing operations or site management to within a large scale and complex environment.
  • A working knowledge of the relevant property legislation.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Office, SAP, Excel (data analysis) and project management software Education/qualifications.

It would be advantageous if you have some understanding of the specialised aviation requirements with regards to facilities management.

Please note: This role will require domestic travel to NZDF camps and bases, therefore a full and clean Drivers License is essential.

  • You must be a New Zealand citizen or you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa.
  • At minimum, you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa, and you must be a citizen of and have lived in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, United States of America or New Zealand continuously for the last ten (10) years.
  • You must have a ten (10) year background history that can be verified and assessed appropriately by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) to determine if you are suitable for a security clearance at this level.
