Job Description

The Field Asset Management Technician keeps Meridian's EV charging network reliable as it becomes critical national infrastructure. It's a hybrid role — about half hands-on in the field, half asset management from our Christchurch base.

  • Diagnose faults, repair and maintain EV charging infrastructure across the South Island
  • Carry out preventative maintenance to lift reliability and reduce downtime
  • Travel regularly, including overnight and multi-day (3–4 day) service runs
  • Monitor charger performance via CPMS, run remote troubleshooting and coordinate field responses
  • Keep accurate records and help refine maintenance strategies
  • Provide rostered after-hours support and act as a senior resource for complex faults
  • Work safely and to standard across all health, safety and compliance requirements

We value work/life balance, so our flexible work options (where possible) make things easier for you and your whānau.

Benefits
  • An attractive and competitive salary package that’s reviewed annually, performance-incentive plus discounts from several partnerships
  • Southern Cross Healthcare - Wellbeing one insurance, funded scheme for eligible employees to give you that extra peace of mind
  • Enhanced leave provisions: three company paid days (over the holiday period), enhanced parental leave and options to buy up to 12 days additional leave
  • Life, trauma and income protection insurance (which we hope you won’t need!)
  • Enhanced KiwiSaver contributions
  • Access to the Meridian employee share scheme
  • Excellent learning and development opportunities, we want you to be the best version of yourself and will help you get there!
  • Award winning wellbeing programme that provides support whenever and wherever you need it
  • Employee discounts off your power with Meridian, every bit counts
  • A one-off $400 payment to support your work from home set-up (if needed)
Qualifications
  • Registered Electrician in New Zealand (Electrical Inspector registration an advantage)
  • Strong hands‑on electrical fault‑finding and diagnostics
  • Experience with distributed assets or infrastructure (EV charging highly desirable)
  • Familiarity with CPMS platforms or similar monitoring and asset tools
  • Confidence interpreting performance data to spot trends and issues
  • A self‑sufficient, persistent problem‑solver who works well independently
  • Good communication across technical and non‑technical audiences
  • Flexibility to travel and work outside standard hours

We’re not necessarily looking for someone who ticks all the boxes, so if you think you have what it takes but don’t meet every requirement in the job description, we strongly encourage you to apply!

This role is based in Christchurch.
