Purpose of the Role\n
Own and deliver the design department from concept through to sign-off, ensuring it is compliant, buildable, and successfully executed through manufacturing, testing, and installation.
Design Delivery\n
\n - Lead façade design through all stages to completion and sign-off in line with project programmes
\n - Manage subcontract shop drawing teams and drive timely approvals
\n - Coordinate PS1 certification and ensure compliance of all design outputs
\n - Maintain high standards of accuracy, coordination, and buildability
\n
Design Coordination\n
\n - Act as primary design interface with clients, architects, consultants, and contractors
\n - Coordinate supplier technical input into the design
\n - Manage sample, VMU, and PMU through approval
\n - Work with the project team to manage design-driven variations and price changes during the design phase
\n
Manufacturing Support\n
\n - Ensure design intent is maintained through subcontract manufacturing
\n - Oversee manufacturing QA processes and review fabrication outputs
\n - Liaise with suppliers and manufacturing partners, including overseas where required
\n
Onsite Support\n
\n - Resolve on-site design issues in line with construction programme demands
\n - Oversee façade testing (501 and 502) and ensure compliant outcomes
\n - Ensure alignment between approved design, manufactured product, and installed work
\n
Sales Support\n
\n - Provide technical input during tender and early design stages as required
\n
Key Performance Objectives\n
\n - Delivery of coordinated, compliant, and buildable design packages
\n - Quality and timeliness of shop drawing production and approvals
\n - Successful achievement of design sign offs (including PS1)
\n - Manufacturing outputs aligned with design intent and quality expectations
\n - Effective QA processes across subcontract manufacturing
\n - Successful completion of façade testing (501 and 502) with compliant results
\n - Timely and effective resolution of on-site design challenges
\n - Reduction in design-related RFIs, rework, and site issues
\n - Strong alignment between design, manufacturing, and installation outcomes
\n
Key Skills and Attributes\n
\n - Minimum 8–10 years’ experience in façade design and delivery within a specialist contractor environment
\n - Strong technical expertise in façade systems, materials, fabrication, and installation
\n - Proven experience managing shop drawing teams and external design resources
\n - Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and design‑for‑manufacture principles
\n - Experience managing QA processes within fabrication environments
\n - Strong knowledge of façade testing requirements, including 501 and 502 protocols
\n - Demonstrated capability in resolving complex design issues onsite
\n - Excellent coordination and technical communication skills
\n - High level of ownership and accountability for design outcomes
\n
