At Te Toka Tumai | Auckland City Hospital we provide the largest Women’s Health Services in Australasia, supporting more than 6,500 births each year across primary, secondary, tertiary and quaternary maternity services. As a national referral and teaching hospital, we provide comprehensive maternity care to women with opportunities for midwives to practice across all areas.
OpportunityIf you are a Registered Midwife looking to work on a casual basis to fit around your family, study commitments or your lifestyle, this could be your opportunity to join our Temporary Staffing Bureau team.
The Bureau employs over 600 casual staff consisting of Registered Nurses, Midwives, Healthcare assistants, Mental Health assistants and Mental Health Nurses to work across Te Toka Tumai to cover planned and unplanned leave. We provide support where the acuity is high, expertise when needed or cover in areas where recruitment needs have yet to be met. This casual midwife role will give you the opportunity to work across all maternity services of the Women’s Health service in Auckland City Hospital.

How to ApplyPlease note that as this is a casual position, you will be booked on an as and when required basis with no fixed hours. If you are currently working full‑time (40 hours), you will need to reduce your hours before we can consider you and provide proof of this. Our preferred candidates will be currently working 0.8 FTE/32 hours per week or less so that you can at least commit to one shift per week.
