We take pride in producing world‑class market kraft pulps, which are used in a wide range of boards and specialty products around the world.
Are you an experienced engineer or production leader who thrives on leading people, improving plant performance, and delivering meaningful change? As our Area Manager – Wood Prep, you will be responsible for leading the operation that includes overseeing debarking, chipping, chip screening, chip storage and conveying systems, while ensuring quality, plant reliability and safe operational performance.
Reporting to the Business Unit Manager, you will provide visible leadership, creating an environment where safety, accountability and continuous improvement are part of everyday work.
This is a hands‑on leadership role where no two days are the same. You'll balance operational excellence with longer‑term improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability, increase plant availability, optimise fibre utilisation and deliver capital and continuous improvement projects across the Production Business Unit.
What You'll Be Responsible For
- Leading the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the Wood Preparation plant
- Maximising plant reliability, throughput and equipment availability
- Leading, coaching and developing a high‑performing operations team
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, productivity, quality and cost performance
- Managing operational risk and ensuring compliance with environmental and safety standards
- Leading operational and capital improvement projects from concept through to implementation
- Working closely with Maintenance, Engineering, Forestry, Logistics and Production teams to optimise overall mill performance
What You Will Bring
- Proven leadership experience in a manufacturing, forestry, wood processing, sawmilling, mining, quarrying or other heavy industrial environment
- A degree in Engineering, Process Technology, Forestry Engineering or equivalent technical qualification (or significant relevant operational experience)
- Experience leading continuous process or bulk materials handling operations
- Strong understanding of plant reliability, asset management and operational improvement
- Experience managing improvement or capital projects
- Minimum 3–5 years' experience in an operational leadership role
- Communication, coaching and stakeholder management skills
- A genuine passion for developing people and building a positive safety culture
