AUT is entering a new and exciting phase of its journey as we seek a highly experienced leader to take on the pivotal role of Associate Director - International Student Recruitment to provide strategic leadership, innovation, and direction in delivering our international growth agenda.

Reporting to the Director International, you will lead AUT's international student recruitment (onshore and offshore based) and agent support teams to build sustainable and diverse pipelines of students. This role is critical in shaping our market diversification strategy, strengthening relationships with agents and partners, and driving innovative recruitment approaches that align with AUT's brand, values, and sustainability goals.

You will work closely with faculty leaders, Brand and Marketing Services, and a wide range of external stakeholders to deliver ambitious yet achievable growth targets, while ensuring AUT's reputation for quality is upheld.

Nga haepapa matua | Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership of AUT's international recruitment operations, ensuring alignment with institutional growth goals.
  • Lead, coach, and inspire a high-performing international student recruitment and agent support teams.
  • Drive market diversification, identifying and developing new markets, channels, and partnerships to expand AUT's international reach.
  • Oversee and strengthen agent engagement and management, including review, selection, performance monitoring, and commission processes.
  • Collaborate with Brand and Marketing Services to design impactful campaigns and implement data-driven recruitment solutions.

Build and maintain strong relationships with international agents, pathway providers, and scholarship sponsors.

You are a seasoned international education leader with deep experience in international student recruitment and market development. You combine strategic vision with the ability to deliver operational excellence in a fast-changing global environment. You are also a people-focused leader who can build, motivate, and empower teams across borders.

To be successful, you will bring:

  • Extensive experience in international student recruitment, including managing large teams across onshore and offshore markets.
  • Strong expertise in stakeholder management, particularly with agents and education partners.
  • Demonstrated success in leading recruitment strategies, market development, and conversion initiatives in a competitive environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence across diverse cultures.
