About the RoleThe Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Clinical Pain Service provides expert nursing care and advice that is evidence‑based and will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across the health sector. The CNS provides support and knowledge to patients and Whānau/family living with acute and chronic pain to assist them in understanding and participating in treatment choices, and transitions of health care needs.

About the Team/Service/LocationThe Clinical Pain Service primarily manages acute and chronic patients admitted into hospital. The team manages daily ward rounds assessing patients pain, providing recommended pain management techniques and medications. This is a small effective team who works closely with the anaesthetic department, surgical, medical and orthopaedic teams.
