JJ Smart Electrical Limited is seeking an experienced Telecommunication Technician to join our team in the Auckland region. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing telecommunications systems, as well as identifying and resolving faults in wired, wireless, and fibre optic networks.

The position involves travelling to various work sites across the Auckland region and other regions as required. All work-related travel and fuel costs will be fully covered by the employer.

Key Responsibilities:

·       Install, set up, inspect, commission, service, and repair a wide range of telecommunications systems and equipment, including fibre optic, copper, wireless, radio, telemetry, microwave, satellite, and data communication networks.

·       Carry out fibre optic and copper cabling works, including cable laying, pulling, blowing, splicing, jointing, termination, and testing using specialised tools and equipment.

·       Install, configure, and integrate ONT units, routers, modems, LAN systems, and customer network devices to ensure correct operation and reliable network performance.

·       Identify, diagnose, troubleshoot, and rectify faults in telecommunications networks and systems using advanced electrical, electronic, and network testing instruments.

·       Replace, repair, and service defective telecommunications equipment, cables, components, and devices to restore and maintain network services.

·       Perform commissioning procedures, system start-up checks, verification testing, and performance evaluations for newly installed telecommunications infrastructure.

·       Complete routine, preventative, and scheduled maintenance tasks to support the reliability, efficiency, and continuous operation of fibre and telecommunications networks.

·       Inspect, install, maintain, and adjust antennas, aerial systems, cables, wiring, and transmission equipment to ensure effective communication services.

·       Configure, program, and optimise telecommunications equipment, fibre systems, and computer network devices to meet technical and customer requirements.

·       Deliver technical support and customer assistance by investigating connectivity problems, restoring services, and providing guidance on system use and maintenance.

·       Conduct site inspections and assess residential and commercial properties to identify installation needs and recommend suitable telecommunications solutions.

·       Monitor network operation, detect service disruptions, and apply corrective measures to reduce downtime and maintain service reliability.

·       Perform upgrades to telecommunications hardware, software, firmware, and network infrastructure to enhance performance, security, compatibility, and functionality.

·       Keep detailed and accurate documentation of installations, maintenance work, fault investigations, repairs, testing outcomes, and customer service activities.

·       Complete related minor civil works, including drilling, mounting, and site preparation activities required for telecommunications installation and maintenance.

·       Ensure all tasks are performed in compliance with industry standards, workplace health and safety regulations, technical requirements, and company policies.

 

The candidate will be required to work a minimum of 30 hours per week with an hourly wage ranging from $30 to $40.
