About the role

As a Category Manager, you’ll own the performance of your categories, shaping how we deliver range, price and promotions for our South Island customers. You’ll use customer, market and commercial insights to make clear decisions that drive performance and improve outcomes.

Reporting to a Senior Category Manager, you’ll be part of our Merchandise team, working closely with suppliers and internal teams to deliver results. You’ll contribute to commercial decisions and negotiations, bringing together different views and helping move things forward.

This is a fixed-term role ending on August 2027 as current team member is covering another role in our Merch team – creating an awesome opportunity for someone to give the role a go!

Key accountabilities
  • Deliver category plans across range, price and promotional activity
  • Work closely with suppliers day-to-day, supporting commercial conversations and negotiations
  • Lead the delivery of category reviews and contribute to joint business planning
  • Use data and insights to identify opportunities and improve performance
  • Work with internal teams to make sure plans land well in market
  • Keep things moving across your categories, managing priorities and follow-through
About you

You’ll likely be working in an FMCG or commercial role today, maybe already close to category, or looking to step into it. You’ll be someone who gets stuck in, builds good relationships, and follows things through. Ideally, you’ll also bring:

  • Experience in FMCG or a similar commercial environment
  • Experience working with suppliers or in a role that supports commercial decisions
  • Clear communication and a practical approach to problem solving
  • Experience using data or reporting to support day-to-day decisions
  • Strong organisation and attention to detail
