Depot Manager 

Our client is looking for a Depot Manager for the Taukau yard. 

For the Depot Manager, some of the tasks related to this position are:

  • Manage the site to ensure efficient operation and productivity
  • Plan and manage how the company buys, stores and delivers its products.
  • Make sure there is always enough stock available without wasting money.
  • Work with suppliers to get good prices, good quality and on-time delivery.
  • Decide what products to offer, set prices, and maintain service standards
  • Ensure that site documentation is accurate and correctly maintained ready for inspections/accreditation applications.
  • Act as contact/liaison for local authorities, Fire and Emergency NZ etc.
  • Manage the distribution network, sourcing transport company/delivery driver resources as required to service particular areas.
  • Develop pickup, loading and delivery schedules.
  • Keep an eye on how stock is stored and tracked, and make improvements when needed.
  • Use systems to record where goods come from and where they go, and reorder items when stock is low.
  • Work with other departments and customers to arrange shipments and deliveries.
  • Make sure all purchase, storage and delivery records are kept accurate.
  • Lead and supervise staff, and check that their work meets expectations.
  • Ensure customers get the products and services they need.
  • Manage budgets and keep financial and stock records
  • Hire, train and oversee staff performance.
  • Manage the retail operations, determining product mix/stock levels by analysing sales figures and forecasting future sales volumes in order to maximise profits
  • Determine and enforce retail operations, policies and procedures, service standards.
  • Liaise with and utilise support from suppliers, merchandisers and other partners as required including negotiating prices where relevant
  • Managing optimum fuel stock levels and submit orders in timely manner (wet and dry)
  • Planning and executing local marketing initiatives and supporting sales events such as The Home Show
  • Keep accurate records of financial transactions and administrative management requirements, including day-to-day banking and till reconciliation
  • Stocktaking products to prevent stock loss and minimise written off stock as required
  • Manage costs and overheads, and all factors affecting the profitable performance of the business
  • Maintain personnel files and other records.
  • Manage leave and generate the staff’s weekly roster to cover the operating hours.
  • Ensure a high standard of customer service by all staff
  • Improve customer service processes and handle customer relationships
  • Responsible for site management of Health and Safety obligations
  • Ensure any hazards are correctly managed, and incident and accident reporting and investigation are correctly carried out
  • Attend relevant training courses and meetings in order to develop the company strategy as required
  • When required, deliver LPG bottles from time to time and move company vehicles at the depot/yard. 
  • Any other reasonable duties required of the employee by the employer

Working on weekends and being available on calls are required for this position.

Offered Wage: $30 - $35 per hour (based on experience)
Employment is full-time with a minimum of 30 hours per week.

This is a managerial role where you'll be handling the sole charge of the depot/yard, including Health & Safety compliance. 

You should have at least 2-5 years of relevant work experience or a relevant qualification (NZ Level 3 or higher).

You should have a Class 2 Driving License. 

All suitable candidates should be able to pass a drug test and a Ministry of Justice check when required.
