We are seeking a skilled and passionate Chinese Cuisine Chef to join our team at 2 HAPPY RESTAURANT LIMITED, located in New Market, Auckland. The ideal candidate will be experienced in authentic Chinese cuisine, with strong expertise in Sichuan/Chongqing dishes being highly preferred.

This is a full-time permanent position; you are required to work for a minimum of 30 hours per week on a roster.

Key Responsibilities

As a Chinese Chef, you will be responsible for:

• Planning, preparing, and cooking authentic Chinese dishes, with a focus on Sichuan cuisine.

• Designing menus, determining portion sizes, and estimating food requirements.

• Monitoring quality of dishes, ensuring consistency in taste, presentation, and hygiene.

• Managing food preparation processes and supervising kitchen staff as required.

• Ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and workplace health & safety standards.

• Training and mentoring junior kitchen staff.

• Ordering and managing food supplies, maintaining stock control, and minimizing wastage.

• Collaborating with management to develop seasonal or specialty menus.

Skills and Experience Required

• At least 2 years of relevant work experience as a Chinese Chef or similar role in a commercial kitchen environment. OR

• At least relevant NZQF level 4 qualification.

• Specialisation in Sichuan cuisine is highly preferred.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen, with strong organizational and multitasking skills.

• Knowledge of Chinese cooking techniques, food safety standards, and kitchen management.

• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
