We are seeking a skilled and passionate Chinese Cuisine Chef to join our team at 2 HAPPY RESTAURANT LIMITED, located in New Market, Auckland. The ideal candidate will be experienced in authentic Chinese cuisine, with strong expertise in Sichuan/Chongqing dishes being highly preferred.
This is a full-time permanent position; you are required to work for a minimum of 30 hours per week on a roster.
As a Chinese Chef, you will be responsible for:
Planning, preparing, and cooking authentic Chinese dishes, with a focus on Sichuan cuisine.
Designing menus, determining portion sizes, and estimating food requirements.
Monitoring quality of dishes, ensuring consistency in taste, presentation, and hygiene.
Managing food preparation processes and supervising kitchen staff as required.
Ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and workplace health & safety standards.
Training and mentoring junior kitchen staff.
Ordering and managing food supplies, maintaining stock control, and minimizing wastage.
Collaborating with management to develop seasonal or specialty menus.
At least 2 years of relevant work experience as a Chinese Chef or similar role in a commercial kitchen environment. OR
At least relevant NZQF level 4 qualification.
Specialisation in Sichuan cuisine is highly preferred.
Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen, with strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Knowledge of Chinese cooking techniques, food safety standards, and kitchen management.
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
